Hypnotherapy in Reading & surrounding areas.
As an experienced and responsible hypnotherapist you can find me on the hypnotherapy directory of the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) , Find a Therapy.Org and also the Complementary & Natural Health Care Council (CNHC). I maintain full Public Liability and Indemnity Insurance.
Over the years I have taken additional training's in weight loss hypnotherapy where I am licensed as a Hypno-Band™ hypnotherapist (The original gastric -band hypnotherapy) and smoking cessation (stop smoking hypnotherapy). My initial training in Stop Smoking was with Valarie Austin the creator of the "stop smoking in an hour technique". Since then I have studied with many other trainers as i am always seeking to improve. I can be found on the Central Register of Stop Smoking Therapists which is a specialised Hypnotherapy directory when you are looking for a smoking cessation hypnotherapist.
Choosing your hypnotherapist in Reading
Please exercise caution and make sure the hypnotherapist who says they are the leading hypnotherapist in this or that really are as good as they say they are. Unfortunately the Advertising Standards Authority do not cover websites. The greater percentage of quality therapists will be affiliated to one or more governing bodies and have agreed to be bound by their rules. This will also give you the piece of mind to know that you are in the hands of a fully trained professional. They will also most definitely carry adequate insurance and lastly most likely also offer a free initial consultation over the phone. and lastly know that there are 60 minutes in an hour.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a form of complementary therapy where by the therapist will guide the client into an altered state of consciousness, usually through various relaxation techniques. This state is called hypnosis.
Whilst the client is in this state they will find that the conscious mind is relaxed and the subconscious mind is actually in a heightened state of awareness.
How does Hypnotherapy work?
Whilst the client is in hypnosis the skilled therapist will now essentially talk to the subconscious mind to help the client achieve their desired outcome. You can not be made to do anything against your will.
What is Hypnosis like
Most people find it very relaxing and are surprised that they are still fully aware of their surroundings during the session. There may be a loss of time like when you are asleep. Some people will also not remember what was said on a conscious level.
Is it safe
Hypnotherapy is a safe practice however some conditions are contraindicated such as borderline personality disorders, psychosis, senility and even some serious heart conditions. Luckily we have other tools in the tool box should a contraindication be apparent from the initial consultation.
